Jessica (Wanke) Deahl
Wank was State Press editor-in-chief during the 2002-2003 school year, and before that, a State Press news editor and city desk reporter. She realized she enjoyed her Matthews Center newsroom neighbor, opinion editor Josh Deahl, so much that she married him. The two are now raising three children and reside in Washington, DC. After a first job at The Arizona Republic and a detour for graduate school in Jerusalem and New York, she spent 12 years at NPR, most recently as a producer and editor for NPR’s national evening news program All Things Considered. She is now a full-time parent holding down Casa Deahl.

Adam Kress
Kress, who is known for the most epic of 21st birthday parties during his State Press days, currently leads a global External Communications team at Honeywell Aerospace. He’s also the chair of ASU’s Student Media Advisory Board overseeing The State Press and Blaze Radio. He’s been married to his beautiful and successful wife, Erin (whom he started dating when he was at The State Press) for nearly 20 years, and they have two boys who love fishing, baseball and ASU football.

Conner, who worked at the State Press for several semesters, was a member of Team Saki and one-half of the tap-dancing Dos Stefani in Spring 2001. She also may have put a few dents in the State Press truck as a delivery girl. After working in journalism, content marketing and public relations, she founded Active Voice Communications in 2009. When she isn’t busy writing copy and developing content strategy for various internal and external corporate and nonprofit teams, she is her 12-year-old’s chauffeur, chef and sports agent.
Sarah Muench
Hebert, also a founding member of The Trifecta and Team Saki, covered cops eating candy for a semester and returned later as a city editor when she was a post-grad. She spent several years as a community reporter and freelance writer (including a brief stint at the Prague Post.) Since earning a master’s degree in political science from American University, she has worked in communications and senior advisory roles for a number of elected officials. Currently, she is the chief deputy for the Nevada Secretary of State and spends most of her time chasing around her super cute 4-year-old, whom Muench has nicknamed Party Wagon.

C. Murphy Hebert
Muench, who was one-third of The Trifecta, was known for generally being a badass reporter on issues like attacks on the First Amendment, the Iraq War, and injustice of minority and marginalized people while covering “diversity” as a beat. She worked hard, played hard as evidenced by her epic house parties, including the Jell-O wrestling party with rooftop overflow. She covered the Baseline Killer and Serial Shooters for The Arizona Republic then transitioned into strategic communications across politics, government, nonprofits and businesses, having served as communications director for the Arizona House Democrats and Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton. She returned to ASU for a master of science degree in Global Technology & Development and traveled to Cuba to study media development. She founded Muench Strategic Communications, serves on several boards, and is a huge supporter of women’s sports, especially the Mercury and Sun Devils of course. She has an Emmy for TV production, is bilingual in Spanish and English and has backpacked to every country in Latin America except for Venezuela, which she will go to at some point.
